A situationship is a connection with closeness or sex but no clear commitment – more than nothing, but not a relationship.
Situationship is a blend of “situation” and “relationship”. It means something between casual contact and a steady relationship: you meet up, you’re close, maybe you have sex – but neither of you has said what it actually is.
The word made it onto the shortlist for Oxford Word of the Year in 2023. It describes a feeling many people know, whatever their age.
