A soft launch means only hinting at a new relationship on social media instead of openly showing your partner.
Soft launch literally means a gentle start. In relationships it means: you show on social media that there’s someone – but not who it is. Typical are a hand in the picture, two glasses on the table or a shoulder at the edge of the frame.
An example: a photo of dinner with two plates and the caption “Lovely evening” – friends immediately ask in the comments.
