Poz and neg are short for HIV-positive and HIV-negative, which men use to state their status.
“Poz” stands for HIV-positive, “neg” for HIV-negative. Some men state their status like this in their profile or in the chat. It’s voluntary, personal information – nobody is obliged to give it.
Status alone says little about the risk during sex. Anyone who is poz and successfully treated cannot pass HIV on through sex: if the viral load under treatment has been below 200 copies per millilitre for at least six months, U=U applies – undetectable, untransmittable. Anyone who is neg can protect themselves with PrEP.
People with HIV still face rejection, often because of outdated knowledge. Yet openly stating your status is a sign of honesty.
