Orbiting means still watching and liking someone’s stories after cutting contact, without ever writing again – circling around them.
Orbiting comes from “orbit”. It describes someone who has broken off contact but still circles near you: he watches your stories, likes a photo now and then – but doesn’t write a word.
That’s confusing. On the one hand the contact is over, on the other his name keeps popping up. Many then wonder: “Does he still want something? Or doesn’t he care?” Often it’s simply curiosity or habit, not a hidden message.
An example: you lost touch after two dates, and weeks later he’s the first to watch every one of your stories – without ever replying.
