The idea came from a member: “Somehow, there’s still no search function – and no list of members in general.” Both features essentially already existed, but they were hard to find. We’ve changed that.
New: Search for members, straight under ‘Discover’
Right at the top, below the welcome message, there’s now a ‘Search for a member (username)’ field. Type in a name or part of a name, press Enter, and you’ll see everyone with that name. It’s not case-sensitive.
Important to note: your search profile is not taken into account in this search. Anyone who types in a name is searching for that exact person – regardless of whether they match the role, age or location in your search profile, or whether they have a profile picture. You can access the full search with all filters as usual via the magnifying glass or the ‘Advanced Search’ button just below it.
New: All members
The ‘All Members’ button does exactly that: it opens a list of everyone you’re allowed to see. Those who were last active here appear at the top, and profiles with a photo come before those without. There are deliberately no filters here – just scroll through and see who’s there.
What else applies: Anyone who’s in stealth mode won’t appear on any list, nor will anyone you’ve blocked or who’s blocked you. Anyone who hides their activity is sorted as if they’d never been seen – so the order doesn’t reveal anything the map is keeping hidden.
Improved: the lists now show all countries
‘New Members’ and ‘Active Today’ had previously automatically adopted the search radius from your search profile. Anyone who’d set this to 50 kilometres would only see their neighbourhood in ‘New Members’ and wonder why there was so little going on. That was never the intention.
From now on, ‘All Members’, ‘New Members’, ‘Active Today’ and the two Premium lists, ‘Currently Online’ and ‘Currently Available’, will show all countries. Above the list, you can tap to choose whether you want to see only Germany, Austria, Switzerland or the Netherlands. Only countries where someone is currently present are shown, and your selection is retained when you switch between lists. Anyone currently travelling will also be found in their destination country for the duration of their trip.
The ‘New and active today’ row under ‘Discover’ now also looks beyond your immediate vicinity. For local content, there are still ‘Near you’ and ‘In your region’ – these two remain as they were.
Improved: Endless lists, fairer search
Two changes under the bonnet that become more important with every new member. The lists and the search for ‘New members’, ‘Recently active’ and ‘Distance’ used to stop at 300 members. Now you can scroll all the way to the very end.
Only the ‘Best Match’ sort option still needs a limit, because this involves comparing each profile individually with yours. Previously, when there were more than 300 matches, the oldest accounts were shown first – meaning new and active members could end up further down the list. Now, the 300 who were last active on the site are compared. Anyone who hides their activity isn’t at a disadvantage.
