Coming out means becoming aware of your own sexual orientation and telling others – often a lifelong process.
Coming out has two sides. First the inner one: you realise you’re into men and accept that for yourself. Then the outer one: you tell others – friends, family, colleagues.
The term comes from “coming out of the closet”. Coming out isn’t a one-off moment but a process, often a lifelong one. Every new job, every new acquaintance raises the question again.
Some come out at 16, others at 60 – after a marriage, after years in hiding. There’s no right age and no right pace. You decide whom you tell and when.
