In youth slang, “aura” is a kind of account for presence and coolness. If you come across as confident and composed, you collect points; if you embarrass yourself, you lose some. It’s all counted with a wink: “plus 1000 aura” or “minus 50 aura”.
In Germany, “Aura” was the Youth Word of the Year (Jugendwort des Jahres) 2024.
In a chat it sounds like this: “Tripped over the kerb right before the date, minus 100 aura 💀”. Or as a compliment: “Your profile pic in the suit? Infinite aura.” What’s meant is: you come across as relaxed, self-assured, impressive.
